Romans 13: Submit to Government
Subject to the governing authorities. At that time, because of the great persecution of Christians by the rules, being subject to the authorities who did everything to destroy the Christian faith seemed incoherent.
Paul treated this subject very cautiously and called the rulers “governing authorities,” which had been appointed by God.
His intention was to instill respect and submission in those Christians in order to avoid retaliation. Even though Pilate was an evil man he heard the Lord Jesus say that his authority had come from God (John 19.11).
Therefore, to rise against an authority that has been appointed by God, whether sit is spiritual, civil, or judicial, is an act of disrespect and rebellion, which entails serious consequences and social disorder.
Of course, if an authority demands something that is against human justice or against God and His Word, we have no Obligation to submit to it (Acts 5.29)
