Matthew 2: Wise Men from the East

The wise men who came from the East to Jerusalem were scholars who studied the stars and medicine. They were considered teachers and scientists among their people.

Those wise men had nothing to do with the Jews, but they received a revelation from the Most High about the birth of Jesus, so they went to Bethlehem to worship Him.

This shows God’s purpose in sending His Son into the world: to save all who believe in Him, whether Jews or Gentiles (Mark 16.15-16; Gal.3.28).

This shows that everything happens at the time the Lord God determines. As time passes, one by one His promises will be fulfilled.

The clothes and the branches were a kind of welcome offering to the Messiah. This form of greeting was common when kings returned home, in triumph, from their battles. Those who had a better financial situation took off their cloaks and spread them along the way, while the poor adorned the ground with branches from trees. As the King entered the city, everyone offered their best to honor him.

Genesis 20: Abraham and Abimelech

She is my sister. In a moment of weakness and fear, Abraham did not reveal that Sarah was his wife. By doing this, he not only put her at risk, but God’s entire project for humankind. With Abraham and Sarah, the Lord intended to create a people, through whom the Savior would be born.

Because of this, He did not allow Abimelech to touch her.

This teaches us to always have the courage to tell the truth, even when we could be adversely affected by people’s reaction.

“White lies” and “half-truths” will cause damage. This is why our response should be a clear yes or no.
