Malachi 3: The Coming Messenger

Behold, I send My messenger. The Messenger of the Covenant is the Lord Jesus, Who first came into the world to reconcile man to God. The prophecy reveals that God’s people needed purification just like the unbelieves They transgressed the Covenant with the Most High when they abandoned His Principles.

That is why God warned them about their sin through metaphors, such as the “refiner’s fire,” which purifies and refines gold, and the “launderer’s soap,” which is a whitening product.

God wants His people to be pure and holy, so that they may offer righteous offerings to Him. This is only possible through obedience to the Word and purification through the Blood of His Son. At His second coming, however the Lord Jesus will no longer offer an opportunity for Salvation but will manifest Himself in righteousness and wrath to judge all those who have rejected Him.
