2 Corinthians 11: Concern for Their Faithfulness
As a chaste virgin. By law the high priest could only marry a virgin (Lev. 21.14).
In this way, Paul meant that the church – the bride – must be pure to marry the Lord Jesus, the High Priest of the New Covenant (Eph. 5.25-27).
Paul was aware of this privilege, so he devoted himself with great zeal to the teaching of truth and to the care of faith.
He knew that if the Corinthians were defiled by sin and the collected and their salvation, they could not be united with the Redeemer in eternity.
