Romans 11: Israel’s Rejection Not Total
Has God cast away His people? The fact that God extended His mercy to all those who believed in the Gospel did not mean that He had rejected Israel.
On the contrary, it was the people of Israel who rejected Him by refusing the Lord Jesus. To prove that God had not despised the Israelites, Paul gave his own example of conversion, since he, being also an Israelite, had the opportunity to know the Lord Jesus and be saved.
The apostle had already guided the Jews as to the choice of the Most High concerning the true descendants of Abraham (4.16). On that occasion Paul explained that the Eternal One did not regard the descendants of the flesh as heirs of the promises made to Abraham, but those who are of the faith (Gal. 3.7-9).
that was the understanding the Israelites needed to have. God had not rejected them, but if they did not believe in the Messiah, there would be no possibility of Salvation.
