Malachi 2: Corrupt Priests
The priests, who had the privilege of serving God(Num. 18.1-20), considered the work they did to be a burden. Their main duty was to zeal for the Name of the Most High, that is, to make the Name of the Lord to be considered the most important and worthy of respect and appreciation over all others. They had the mission to honor Him so that He would never become vile among people. However, they did the opposite.
The Divine dissatisfaction against the instructors of the Law was fraught with reasons.
Who can dishonor God and not receive greater dishonor as a reward? Manure from the slaughtered animals would be thrown into their faces., which means that the priests and their offspring would be publicly rejected and shamed.
Today, all who believe in the Lord Jesus are priests of the New Covenant (1 Pet. 2.9), subject to the same blessings as before, assigned the same responsibility and subject to the same rebuke if negligent.
