Babylon’s army surrounded Jerusalem, thus fulfilling the prophecies of the fall of Judah.

King Zedekiah had Jeremiah arrested in an attempt to silence him, for the prophet constantly predicted his defeat before Nebuchadnezzar.

In his guidance, Jeremiah also directed the king to surrender, to avoid an even greater evil, but his words were not well received by Zedekiah, so he was imprisoned in the premises of the palace.

Surely, the desire of the king of Judah was to kill him, but Almighty God stopped him from acting.
