Genesis 28: Jacob escapes Esau

Isaac called Jacob and blessed him. Isaac showed the same concern that Abraham had by instructing his son to avoid marrying any woman from the land of Canaan.

The plan of the Most High was to create a holy nation that was uncontaminated by the idolatry that existed among the people of the land.

Jacob said goodbye to his father with the assurance that the promises of God, made to Abraham on the day that the Covenant was made, would follow him (17.2-8).

Due to disbelief when faced with difficulties, the Hebrews were once again disapproved in their faith. Instead of believing, they sought someone to blame for their problems – in this case, Moses, who was almost stoned.

Thus, they showed that they were not prepared to become a nation.

Note that, just as obedience demonstrates faith, disbelief reveals a perverse heart.

Struggles exist not to lead us to sin, but to lead us to honor the Almighty God with our trust.

But they could not understand that, so they resented the Lord; they complained because they only expected blessings. Christians who only expect benefits after their conversion end up frustrated.

He wants to be honored in all the moments of our lives, through obedience, faith and reverence to what is holy.
