The prestige of having a good name was compared to the privilege of the nobles of antiquity, who were the first to use perfumed ointments. Though the ointment had a very precious emblem of status and power, it only had a passing aroma, unlike the good reputation and good name built from a righteous life, which has and had great value for God and man.
