Sanctification provides spiritual security and preserves faith, Israel would have to completely destroy the nations that lived in Canaan so they would not suffer any type of influence from the pagan nations.

God warned His people not to follow their customs nor allow their sons to marry their daughters. This shows that although belonging to the Most High is a great privilege, it also requires the responsibility of living in accordance to His Guidance.

Christians should not live isolated in this world because they are expected to influence those around them like “salt and light”(Matt. 5.13-16). This dies not mean that they have to mix with unbelievers and do what unbelievers do. Otherwise, there would be no difference between light and darkness
