A certain young man named Eutychus sank into a deep sleep, fell from a third-floor window, and died. It is not clear whether he fell asleep from physical tiredness or because he had lost interest in Paul’s message, but the truth is that the same situation happen in church meetings today.

Even though some people fall asleep from actual tiredness, others sleep out of boredom. It seems that as soon as the pastor begins to teach the Word of God, they relax in their seats and give way to sleep. The interesting thing is that it does not happen during prayer time, but at the main part of the meeting when we detach from everything around us to attentively listen to the Word of God.

The devil knows that, which is why he works hard to keep the seed of the Word from ready to bear fruit. Sometimes drowsiness is not physical, but spiritual. When people are dominated by it , they are unable to pay attention to anything being taught.

They seem to be listening, but their thought are far away. If they do not awaken from this sleep, they may fall and die spiritually.
