Corinth. Located in Greece, this large city was known for its immorality and corruption, and idolatry was part of the dominant religion.

The Temple of Aphrodite, for example, had more than a thousand prostitutes who were considered sacred. Even though Paul noticed the difficulties of the place, he saw a wonderful opportunity to bring the Name of the Lord Jesus to those people.

This is what motivates servants of God to sacrifice their lives for the sake of His Work. So many are involved in crime, corruption, lies, addictions, yet they do not recognize that they need the Lord Jesus. Our duty is to alert them to the great need to seek His help and Salvation.
