Deuteronomy 20: Principles Governing Warfare
The God of war. The Most High emphasizes to the soldiers of Israel that victory in the war would not happen due to them having a large army, much less because of powerful weapons. Victory would come from the Lord of Hosts who would fight for them.
Those who truly trust in God have no need to be afraid of the future or of the battles that they face, for they will never be alone.
Yet, they need to be courageous and have faith, for they will overcome evil even if they are at a disadvantage. Only the violent in faith take possession of the Kingdom of God (Matt. 11.12). Cowards exclude themselves from His Kingdom because they cannot bear the light and momentary afflictions (2 Cor. 4.17; Rev. 21.8).
