Acts 12: Herod’s Violence to the Church
Herod Agrippa I ruled Palestine for three years. He was the nephew of Herod Antipas (the one who killd John the Baptist) and the grandson of Herod the Great. In addition, he was diligent in fulfilling the laws of the nation and implemented the persecution of Christians.
James, the brother of John was the first apostle to die by his hands, fulfilling the peophecy of the Lord Jesus (Mark 10.36-39).
At the time, the Church was greatly persecuted and harassed by all Israel, but the apostles were prepared to defend their faith, even if they had to pay with their own lives.
Today we must be prepared to face any kind of persecution because of faith in the Lord Jesus.
In every time period, persecutions were driven by society, political authorities, religious institutions, public or private organizations, friends and even by family members.
