2 Corinthians 3: Christ’s Epistle
The epistles of commendation were a resource used in the Early Church to present new co-workers to the Work of God and to avoid fraud.
They were written to prevent Christians from being deceived by false servants and to ensure that the rue ones were welcomed (Rom. 16.1).
However, false teachers arrived in Corinth taking false letters of introduction, which were written, they were full of praise, virtue, and boasting, which was not good for those who had humble spirit; therefore, those letters had no credibility.
That is why Paul affirmed that the best “epistle of commendation” was his righteous life before God and man. Good testimony, a blameless conduct, faithfulness, faith, and sincerity are more valuable than impressive words that often do not reflect reality.
