By the meekness and gentleness. An authoritarian leadership generates dependence and fear in people, will only obey to avoid punishment.
This is why the Lord Jesus taught his discipline and His followers with neatness and humility (Matt. 11.29). Paul did the same when he edified the church and faced opposition of those who would dispute his apostolic authority.
He wanted to imitate the Savior, who, with teachings, balance and gentleness, would convince people to take pleasure in voluntary obedience to the Most High.
Naturally, this does not mean that one should fail to correct or exhort when necessary, for this is what is expected of a true servant of God.
