1 Samuel 10: Saul Anointed King
The oil, a symbol of the Holy Spirit, was used to anoint priests, prophets, and kings in Israel.
It was also used to sanctify the utensils of the House of the Lord. Saul was the first to be anointed king of Israel, a privilege he later treated with contempt.
Just like him, all who depart from the presence of God treat his anointing with contempt. Only when things began to go wrong in their lives do they realized the mistake they have made.
