Samuel was still a child when he received the calling of God. The Lord saw even at such a young age, Samuel had the sensitivity to hear Him – a start contrast to the sons of Eli who were negligent and irresponsible.

This reveals that the Most High does not look at appearance, position, or ability, but at the devotion that each person has toward Him, and their willingness to serve Him. Samuel as prepared from early childhood to become a great priest, profit, and judge in Israel.
