The first book of the Prophet Samuel describes the end of the rule of judges and the beginning of the rule of Kings.

The narrative covers almost a century – from the birth of Samuel to the drawdown and that both King Saul. Book describes the rebelliousness of the first King of Israel and his obedience toward God.

At the same time, it speaks of a young man named David, who was chosen by the Lord to rule over Israel.

His obedience to God led the nation to great victories such as the conquest of many nations. The expression “Lord of Hosts” is used numerous times throughout this book to emphasize that the Most High is Supreme in every battle.

If we want the Lord of war to fight in our favor, we need to serve him faithfully, with the sole intention of pleasing Him, just like Abraham, Moses, Joshua, David and other heroes of faith in the past (Hev. 11).
