Lamentations 3: The Prophet’s Anguish and Hope
I am the man who has seen affliction. For forty years, Jeremiah announced that if the people of Judah did not repent, the nation would be destroyed. Even so, the words inspired by the Almighty were ignored. Because of this.
Babylon became to “rod” of Divine wrath over Judah, in order to call it to repentance (2.5).
Even though the prophet knew God’s reproach was fair, it did not stop him from suffering for his people.
Jeremiah could have abandoned his people, but he preferred to walk in darkness, surrounded by those who were afflicted tin defeat and despair.
A true servant of God does not remain indifferent when he sees the suffering of his fellow men. On the contrary, he feels their pain as though he were suffering himself. The servants of the Almighty are always willing to do whatever they can to save those who are suffering from calamity.
