John 1: The Eternal Word
“In the beginning” announces the first creation of God described in Genesis 1.1, and these same words appear here to announce a new beginning. God the Father would reveal Himself to humanity in a perfect and complete Covenant through His Son Jesus.
In the creation of the world, the Lord Jesus, as the “Word” (“logos,” in the Greek language), was responsible for the origin of all things (Col. 1.16). Therefor, He coexisted as Creator of eternity, time, and matter. Everything that exists originated with the Word, and the Source of Life remains in it. The Savior can be called the “Word” because, through Him, the Most High manifests His will to us.
