Jeremiah 29: Letter to the Captives
Build houses and dwell in them. Jeremiah warned all the captives in Babylon through a letter, that their stay in captivity would be long.
God wanted to encourage the exiles, because He knew the difficulties that they would be subjected to in a strange land.
This is why the Lord encourage those Jews to build houses, to work and prosper, even in the middle of hostility, He also advised them to plant gardens. This means that they would be given some freedom to live comfortably in Babylon.
The Most High also counseled them to marry one another and form families. The exiles would not live there forever, but the return to Israel would not happen soon. God’s Message taught the people to react correctly during difficulties. This shows that even in the worst problems, life must go on. the way we face struggles determines our victory over them. No one enjoys suffering, but even failures can work together for our good.
