Jeremiah 21: Jerusalem’s Doom Is Sealed
God against His people. King Zedekiah, in the face of imminent Babylonian invasion of Jerusalem, expected the Most High to help him defeat his enemies.
Well, the people of Judah did the opposite of God’s will and now they wanted His protection and help.
“Perhaps the Lord will deal with us according to all His wonderful works.”
This was the king’s desire, but he and the people were more concerned about being delivered from their why they received a big “No” for an answer and also heard from the prophet that the most High would fight against them with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger and fury and great wrath!
The indignation of the Lord against Judah was so deep that He called Nebuchadnezzar “My servant” to complete that mission (25:9). It is foolish to disobey the Most High, for those who oppose Him become His enemy, and this means having no chance to prevail (Isa. 42.13).
