Jeremiah 2: God’s Case Against Israel
I remember you. The Most High had longed for His people when they lived in the first love and they followed Him in the desert in utter dependence. “Youth” refers to the period when the Hebrews were freed from slavery and entered into an Alliance with the Eternal Lord on Mount Sinai.
In that time, the Israelites embraced faith and the Commandments with loyalty and dedication, just as a wife clings on their husband on their honeymoon.
But, with the passing of time, the people rebelled against Him, and their faithfulness remained only in the memories of God. This represents well those that today have lost their initial devotion. They can even be part of a church but are cold and indifferent to spiritual matters. If you find yourself in this situation, know that the Most High has longed for your purity, your fervent prayers and your thirst for learning His Word. His love continues to be same. So, repent and return to His Arms (Hosea 14.1)
