Haggai 2: The People Are Defiled
Who saw this Temple in its former glory? By comparing the first temple to the second, the Jews became discouraged, because it lacked the splendor and the riches of the first, built by Soloman (Ezra 3.12). God knew that, but by asking who had seen the glory of the first Temple, He wanted to hear the response of the people.
Unable to see with the eyes of faith, the Jews did not believe that the glory of God would come in a much greater way.
They did not understand that the Divine glory was not conditioned to the beauty or physical greatness of the Template, but to complaining, looking at the past , at what they were or what they did, waste the opportunity of seeing the greatness of the Most High in their life. In order not to lose focus or opportunities, we must focus on the direction He has given through His Word, without looking at anything or anyone.
