The Altar of incense would be positioned in the Holy place, in front of the Ark of the Covenant, which would remain in the Holy of Holies.

Only the veil separated these two elements, which shows the close connection between them. Twice a day, exclusive incense had to be burned on this Altar.

The incense symbolizes the continual prayers a person should present to God. Prayer is so important before the Most High that it is gathered in Heaven in a golden censer (Rev. 8.3). It should be a spontaneous and pleasurable act, not a repetitive and obligatory ritual.
