Deuteronomy 2: The Desert Years
A missed opportunity. At the gates of Canaan, God commanded the people to divert to the Red Sea, in the opposite direction to the Promised Land.
He did this because of the rebelliousness of the Israelites, who missed out on the chance to reach the long -awaited promise. Similarly, how many are those who go back to square one because at a crucial moment in their life, they stop believing?
It takes seconds to commit a sin, but its consequences remain for a long time. The Israelites spent years wandering in the scorching desert when they were supposed to be enjoying the abundance of milk and honey reserved for them (Heb. 3.15-19).
