Samuel 5: The Philistines and the Ark
They took the ark of God.
During that period of time, it was custom for a victorious army to take the gods of the defeated army and put them in the temple of their own gods.
The ark of God was not an Idol, but the Palestinians considered it to be one when they saw it being carried to the battlefield by the priest to be placed in front of the Israelite army.
