Exodus 28: Garments for the Priesthood
Aaron and his sons would be consecrated to the priesthood to serve the children of Israel. These would be their functions: to offer scarifies on the Altar of burnt offering, to teach God’s Laws, to intercede for the people and to judge their civil cases.
In addition to this, inside the Holy Tent, they had to burn incense twice a day, maintain the lampstand alight and replace the bread on the table of showbread.
The Lord Jesus assumed the role of our High Priest and made us His priest (Rev. 1.6). To give us this privilege, He did not offer an animal on the Altar, but He offered Himself as a Perfect Sacrifice for our sins.
