Luke 5: Four Fishermen Called as Disciples
Into the deep. the Lord Jesus commanded Peter to cast the nets into the deep during the day, which was the opposite of what the fishermen used to do – they often went out at night when the chances of fish not identifying the nets and being caught were greater. Peter could have argued that the Master had been a carpenter, not a fisherman, and that He might not understand about fishing; yet , he believed in His word and saw a miracle. Notice that the disciple ignored the apparent inconsistency of that instruction and acted upon the Lord’s command. This show s that what determines a miracle is pure, obedient faith, not circumstances.
