Mark 13: Jesus Predicts the Destruction of the Temple
Take heed that no one deceives you. When the Lord Jesus spoke about the destruction of the Temple (v.2), the disciples wanted to know when this prophecy would be fulfilled.
The Savior spoke about the ruin of Jerusalem, which would occur in AD 70; however, this event also symbolized the desolation of the end times.
By warning us not to be deceived by anyone, He meant that, just like many men would claim to be the promised Messiah, before the destruction of the holy city, many false christs will appear in the last days. The spirit that has acted most in this century is the spirit of deceit. We see an abundance of false teachers, false Christians, and false doctrines leading countless people to hell.
