Matthew 17: Jesus Transfigured on the Mount
He was transfigured before them. The transfigure means to transform to change into something more beautiful or elevated. Peter, James, and John witnessed the Divinity of the Lord Jesus; they could see Who He truly is. His Face shining like the sun and His clothes a white as the light reveal the fullness of the glory and majesty of the Father that rest upon the Son (Col. 2.9; Heb. 1.3).
Moses and Elijah represented that Law and the prophets Their presence on that hill, alongside Jesus, meant that all that was written in the Law and all that was proclaimed by the prophets were fulfilled in the Messiah and testified of His Person and His works.
The Voice of the Most High was very clear: “This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased, Hear Him!” The Lord Jesus is the Word that became flesh (John 1.1-3). Therefore, those who obey Him will be saved; they will not only see His glory, but they will receive it.
