Haggai 1: The Command to Build God’s House
In the time of Darius, the king of Persia, the Jews returned to Jerusalem form exile. But, in order for them to succeed in their land, they needed to re-establish their Covenant with God.
Therefore, restoring the Temple was crucial, for the rebuilding of the place also meant the restoration of the spiritual life of the people.
Through Haggai, the will of the Most High was announced to the leaders of the leader of the people: Zerubbabel, the governor, and Joshua, the high priest. The Jews were encourage to begin the work, but , because of spiritual weakness, they did not complete it and they began actin as if nothing were happening. Many Christians have acted similarly: the read the Word daily, but do not obey it. Inside th3e church, they appear to be servants, people who are committed to God, but outside, they giv4e no testimony. They say “amen” to the leaders, but “no” to the Divine Voice
