Comfort My people. Isaiah receives the order to ease the pain of the children of Israel from God. The word “comfort” was mentioned twice, to emphasize that the days of captivity would be hard, but they would have an end. Thus, the message of the Lord encouraged them to face their struggles and let them know that they were still the Almighty God poured down His judgment and His reprehension, He still considered Israel as His own possession.

Knowing this gave encouragement to the nation.

Comfort is a quality that is present in the Divine (1.3), the Lord Jesus is the One to comfort all who mourn (61.2), and the Holy Spirit is the Helper who helps all those who seek Him (John14.26)
