In his first episode Peter encouraged new believers in the Gospel to stay faithful to god through many trails. Now, not only his message exhort them to trust in the Most High, but to be vigilant due to the rise of false teachers and doctrines. And these destructive heresies twisted the word of god and voraciously attacked those who were not yet spiritually mature.

Their purpose was to weaken true faith, a treasure of infinite value, because that they are distinct types of faith; religious faith inherited by family or cultural tradition; common faith that can be found in anyone but produces no results;

a supernatural faith, which is born through the revaluation of god himself. Whoever has this last faith has precious riches beyond any monetary value. This faith is gods providence to grant Salvation to man and fulfill His promises in this world.
